My Saturday afternoon

This weekend I'm so exhausted. I think we all need to take some down time and just relax every now and then. Today I'm feeling lazy and I'm taking full advantage of it too. I'm going to lay back on the couch and watch my absolute favorite DVD collection, Poirot (Agatha Christie). Is anyone else out there a huge Poirot fan? I LOVE Hercule Poirot!!! I have been discussing a trip to London so I can go on the Poirot tour. That would be a blast.

So, I'm watching Poirot and eating Chinese. That's one of the biggest things I miss about living in San Francisco. I miss good Chinese food. Jill, do you know of a great Chinese place in Houston? If I'm in a hurry sometimes I get a quick fix at P.F. Changs but it's not the same as traditional China Town. Today I made my own and I asked hubby to pick up egg rolls at a little dive down the street. Greasy Chinese is the best but I'm trying to lose weight so I'm trying to cook my own healthy Chinese. Anyone out there like to cook Asian food? What are you doing this weekend?

I let Lil Petunia have a friend sleep over and then took them to lunch and the pool today. Never any down time around here!!! Enjoy yours!

I'm glad you were able to relax this weekend... so important to get that in.

For Chinese in Houston, I like Yao on Westheimer. The owner is Yao Ming from the Houston Rockets. I've heard his parents are there most nights. I haven't seen them yet, I wonder if they're tall. :) I also like Kam’s on Montrose and Van Loc on Milam Street. Van Loc is Vietnamese and Chinese.

This may not help you much... these places are all kinda far from you. I have a co-worker that lives your way. I'll ask him where they go for good Chinese.

On Bellaire and Beltway 8, there is a Hong Kong Market. It's huge and they sell all kinds of good stuff. I love their produce. They also sell hard to find items like wontons wrappers. It's a fun Saturday outting! If you go, beware they also sell lots of live fish. The worst is live frogs. GROSS!

Ewww, live frogs!!! Wouldn't that be funny if Yao Ming's parents were midgets? No offense to midgets but the irony would be funny.
We're around Westheimer during most weeks. I'll have to try Yao. The Hong Kong market sounds like a lot of fun. We'll definitely have to check that out too. Thanks for the list of Chinese restaurants.
