Ready for a make over

Ok, so I already found a salon I'm going to try out on Tuesday. I'm ready for a make over. I can never keep the same hair cut/color very long. I love to dramatically change. I think it's the Gemini in me. I love change. So, right now my hair is called chestnut. I call it a poopy brown. The last stylist didn't listen to me (hated the color/cut). My original stylist moved to Manhattan. He was the best. Why is it that gay guys just know how to make a woman beautiful? All my stylist have been men but when I try a woman; they never listen and do what they want. Enough about my rambling on stylist. I'm thinking of going this color for spring. What do y'all think? I found this picture and I'm going to take it with me on Tuesday. YAY! I'll be a whole new woman soon. I'm ready to get a whole new wardrobe too. I want to look completely different by summer. Any suggestions on a cute cut?

We're here!!!

We are finally moved into our home in Houston. I'm sooo exhausted!!! Not everything could fit onto the moving truck and we had to make two trips back and forth from Houston to Austin. Richard had to go to his new office on Friday. I stayed home and unpacked almost the entire house. I have the guest room, bedroom, and my office to attend to next week. We live north of Houston and it's in a heavily wooded area. The trees here are so beautiful. I forgot how peaceful it feels to live around huge trees. I went to school in Oregon but it has been years since I've lived in this type of environment. There is something calming about it. I haven't felt this calm since we moved from Louisiana. It was a great decision to move to this area.

We have so many friends that live in Houston and a ton of business associates. Our phone has been ringing off the hook. I can't get over how nice everyone is in the Houston area. This afternoon I was driving through our neighborhood and two strangers smiled and waved at me and my next door neighbors brought me a cold drink while I was setting up our front porch. When I stopped by the post office this woman turned around and welcomed me to the area. Everyone is sooo nice. I think I've been up north too long,ha, ha...

Tomorrow is moving day!!!

I can't believe that tomorrow is the BIG day. It seems like we've been planning this move for a couple of months but it really hasn't hit me at all. Saturday we drove down to look at our new house. It's really great and I love it. I packed my car with crystaL, china, and some paintings. The new house goes so well with our things....Do you know what I mean? Have you just walked into a house and felt like it was made for you? Well this house feels like that. I haven't even spent my first night in it and it already feels like home. Everyone is so nice too. We were invited to a Mardi Gras festival and to dinner as soon as we arrived. I think we are going to make really great memories here. I better go; I need to be rested for the move tomorrow. Everything is packed up and in the old house and it looks so empty. Our voices echo through the house. I'll miss this old place but I'm looking forward to a new adventure. Closing the chapter in Austin and starting a new one in Houston. Here we go!!!

I found this on the web. Isn't it cute!!! Y'all haul (too funny).

AUSTIN, TEXAS

Time is ticking....We are trying to get in all the places we love to shop and eat before we move. We have been going around saying goodbye to our friends. Our house is full of boxes and I've started parking my car outside. The garage is full of furniture and boxes waiting for the movers to arrive. It's going to be weird not to live in Austin anymore. Austin has been our home for 4 years. But it's time to move on and begin new adventures. This will be my last post until we are moved and settled into our new home. Wish us luck!!!

WHOLE FOODS

This afternoon I stopped by Wholefoods for one last trip to the dessert section. I know...I'm suppose to be dieting but we are down to days before we move from Austin. Did you know that the Wholefoods corporate is located in Austin. And they first started the chain here locally? I didn't know that until we moved here. The one downtown is huge!!! It takes up an entire city block. It's also the test store for the nation. So you run across things that you wouldn't at other Wholefoods. Check out those beautiful desserts.....

My Secret Soap Fetish

I just bought these cute monkey soaps for my guest bathroom and scented liners for my chest drawers. I think all of us are drawn to collect unique things. We don't understand why we are drawn to them but we just are. For an example, my mother-in-law loves chickens. She collects anything with a certain type of chicken on it. My friend collects ceramic pigs. Me, I love soap. Not just any soap. It's not like I'm collecting Lever 2000 or anything like that. No, I love European soaps. It started a few years ago when we were in France. I walked into a boutique and I was hooked. I have a bathroom pantry that is dedicated to nothing but luxury soaps. I give them out for gifts or I put them out for my house guests. There is something about having them that makes me feel special.

What do you collect? And is there a story behind your collection?

BOBBI BROWN

I'm addicted to Bobbi Brown make up. I've retired MAC and fallen in love with Bobbi. Anyone else love the Bobbi Brown line? What type of make up do y'all like? I love make up and would love to hear your favorite list of products.

Best 3M advertisement

This is pretty gross but too funny to not post. 3M has a huge plant located in Austin, Texas. I about fell off my chair laughing when I saw this ad. If you've ever had a plumber or any work crews working on your home; you'll appreciate 3M so much more now.....I guess Grandpa was right; you can fix anything with duct tape.

Happy Valentine's Day

Hope y'all have a great Valentine's Day. My hubby took me to Cheesecake Factory for lunch. My favorite is the desserts. Hubby and I are going to make an effort to lose weight so this was a treat. My last cheesecake...We are going to go on vacation this summer and I don't want to be mistaken as a beached whale. I have a few months. I'm determined to get back to my bathing suit bod by summer. Right now I feel like that Hippo.

GO DUCKS!!!

My husband and I love to go feed the ducks on our daily walks. I think I'm a little drawn to the ducks because I'm a DUCK (University of Oregon). My hubby is a LSU TIGER. Tiger & Ducks....

Check out the photo of my hubby. He's so cute!!! The ducks are sooo adorable. That one picture looks like Richard is serenading to the baby ducks.

One of my FAVORITE movies

This is one of my favorite movies. This is a great story. If you haven't seen it I suggest you rent/buy it. I can relate to this movie soooo much and every time I watch it I cry like a baby. God can clean up your life and give you an amazing future. All you have to do is trust Him. This movie reminds me that trust in the Lord (especially when things look bad) is what true faith is all about. He might not show up when you want him but he'll be there right on time.

This evening my husband and I decided to take an evening stroll on a walking trail near our house. We like this particular path because it stretches along the San Gabriel river. It's beautiful and the best part, are the ducks. We love to feed the ducks. We'll stop by the market to pick up bread to throw at the geese and ducks that reside under the bridge. Tonight we were late and I noticed a man standing all alone looking at the ducks. We started talking (I've never met a stranger) and I could tell he was lonely. He and his wife just separated and they have a 4 year old son, Tyler. To make matters worse they relocated to the area and don't have any family or many friends. He was a good guy and was a very proud papa. He loves his son & he's really trying to rebuild his marriage with his wife (she has a drinking problem).

I know a lot of people that would say, "issues" and walk away. My husband worked in the Emergency Room for 14 years. I think most of society is unstable and I don't trust anyone. But I could see that this guy was truly a sweet man and he was just hurting. I said a silent prayer and I asked God what He wanted me to do. We really didn't have the extra hour to waste in our schedule but we stayed anyways. Before we departed we invited him to our church with us on Sunday. Guess what!!! He's coming and he is going to bring his wife and son. Wow, I didn't know how he was going to respond but his spirit was completely lifted up by the time we left. He had hope again and he told us, "You both really made my day."

Tonight I've been thinking to myself. Have we become a society that's too busy? Do we consume ourselves with selfish devices (cell phones, ipods, computers) that we've forgotten to communicate? When I was a kid we knew the neighbor's, postman, grocery clerks, etc. I couldn't tell you our neighbors first name let alone the last. Our society has become so distant and cold that we don't take time to build relationships; let alone each other. We are too busy to notice when someone is hurting and even if we do we do nothing about it. When did our culture become so cold? Is this progress? What will it be like when our children are our age? No wonder so many people are fighting with depression. No wonder there are so many divorces. No wonder there are so many hopeless people out there. Who really cares? It's so easy to get caught up in our own lives, schedules, and problems that we've become insensitive as the world. Here I'm a Christian and how many people have I truly invited to church? I need to step it up, y'all. I need to turn off the boob tube, stop texting as much, and cut the fat out of my schedule. I need to walk in the spirit and take time to smile, small talk, and listen to others. I can't change the world but I change me. Do y'all know what I'm saying? I would really appreciate if y'all would pray for Eric, Mary, & Tyler.

The Bag Tag

One of my favorite blogs to read is my sista fluffy at fluffyfashionablefamous.blogspot.com She is playing a game called The Bag Tag. You're supposed to show your bag that you carried around today. Tell how much and the story behind getting it.

This is my favorite purse and it goes with almost every outfit. My hubby got this big beauty for my B-Day present last year. I love it!!! I'm not sure how much it cost and I think it would be tacky to look it up. Tag you're it!!! Now share your bag with me.

Dinner with friends.....

We met our friends, Glen & Sherry, at Flemings Steak House for dinner tonight. Sherry was our real estate agent who found us our house in Austin. She's a fantastic real estate agent and a better friend. She use to teach painting and has been giving me lessons. It's much more difficult than you think. I'm really going to miss her when we move. She and Glen are suppose to come down and visit us in a few weeks in our new house. It's going to be weird to not live in Austin anymore but I'm ready for the next chapter in our lives. Flemings Steak House is excellent by the way. We at like kings!!! www.flemingssteakhouse.com

Only in Texas....

When we were walking through the capital I spotted a crazy looking guy (he looked like ZZ Top, ya'll) and he had a snake in his hand. We went to the courtyard and peeked outside the door and this is what we saw....RATTLESNAKES!!! They were the guys from the Sweetwater Rattlesnake Roundup. It's really popular up north. I've only heard of it but never been. I try to avoid snakes as much as possible. Just like a little boy my husband had to rush outside and get a few pictures. I was not happy with him being that close to a bunch of pissed off rattle snakes. Try to explain that one to the E.R.. That would be our luck; we would make the news for sure, "Texas man falls into a pit of rattle snakes at state Capital." Thankfully we made it out alive. I tell ya; they are a bunch of rattlesnakes down at the capital. Hee, hee...that was political joke. Ok, that was a bit cheesy.

Capital of Texas; Yee-Haw!!!

Ok, so my husband works for a development/management group that purchases/builds Ambulatory Surgical Centers. He's heavily involved in healthcare lobbying for physician owned hospitals. I work as an independent contractor (project management) for these hospitals. You could say we have an invested interest in what they "the man" is doing down at the capital. Today we met with a group of lobbiest and paired off to meet as many Senators/Representatives as we could. We explained our stance on healthcare bills that would be affecting us and asked them to vote in our favor. It was a very long day and even longer for my poor feet (I wore heels). My feet felt like they were going to explode but seriously....I looked darn good walking around in pain, ha, ha.. My husband was so excited because he got to meet Senator Dan Patrick. Senator Patrick wrote a book called, "The Second Most Important Book You'll Ever Read." We actually were there to get his support in voting for us. It wasn't until after we spoke with his office we whipped out his book and begged to get him to autograph it. He was the nicest guy, y'all. He was super busy but asked us back to his office and gave us a movie he put out too. Here's the picture of us. We look soooo money, ha, ha...Oh, Senator Dan Patrick looks good too~

CHICKENFOOT

Last night we went out for Chinese with some friends. We ended up going back to their place and played a game called,Chickenfoot. It's so much fun, y'all. We played two games before it got too late and we had to leave. It's a domino's game. We are going to get a group to come over and play at our house next weekend. I love throwing dinner parties. This is a pic of hubby and I. We were the Chickenfoot champions. I won the first game and he won the second. We really know our Chickenfoot....
