Nifty Thrifty

I just met a wonderful gal, Tracie, who lives only a few blocks from me. She loves Shabby Chic and is incredible when it comes to painting furniture. We really hit it off and last Thursday we drove all over creation and found some great thrift shops. A few were a bit scary but I did find some great deals. You really have to dig through some unusual stuff (and I'm not talk'n about cool and hip but T-A-C-K-Y). I now I've seen where all of our crazy relatives tacky disgusting gifts go to die, LOL! Y'all, they had a stuffed armadillo. Who would put a stuffed armadillo in their house? Not only was it a stuffed armadillo but a stuffed armadillo holding a Coors Light beer can. That's when you know you're in a good thrift store, LOL!

So here are some of my deals ~

A bought this crate box for $7.00 and used it as a planter. It now resides on my front porch. I bought the little white terracotta bird for $1.50.

I picked up this cute little bird clock for $14.00

I found these cute little copper bunny & rooster for my kitchen for $1.00 each

And I purchased this old tapestry for only $2.00

It was so much fun, y'all. We had a blast. We are thinking of heading over to Old Spring in a couple of weeks. Anyone been to old town Spring, Texas?

Thank you for stopping by & for the well wishes on the granite. Your blog is so cute & I love how Southern you sound. I bet we'd have a ball out thrifting together.

I went out searching for furniture in thrift stores a month or two ago here in Austin...Let me tell you...there are some awesome finds out there, especially if you are willing to put a little work into them. Back when I was in college, my mom found an antique dresser that she bought for $75. She brought it home, stripped it, and then refinished it, and it is GORGEOUS! It's probably one of the nicest pieces of furniture I own! :)

I'm laughing SO hard... a stuffed armadillo holding a Coors Light! Oh My Gosh, that's terrible.

I've been to Old Town Spring a few times. The last time I was last spring. I feel like I can't give a good review on OTS. We went a few hours before all the stores closed. When we arrived my friends were hungry so we had to take time for to eat. I didn't get to visit all the stores I wanted to visit. I went in a few that were terrible and a few that were cute. Let me know what you think when you go... I'm interested.
